Carrier Expands Partnership With FIFA Through Specially Branded Long-Haul Aircraft

DOHA — Qatar Airways has unveiled a specially branded Boeing 777 featuring FIFA World Cup 2026-themed livery, deepening its partnership with FIFA as the Official Airline Partner of the tournament.

The aircraft, revealed at the airline’s hub at Hamad International Airport, will operate on routes across Europe, the United States, and Asia as part of a global promotional campaign tied to the upcoming tournament. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the event will be staged across three countries.

The launch represents the next phase in Qatar Airways’ ongoing relationship with world football following its high-profile involvement in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Boeing 777 To Serve as Flying Ambassador for FIFA World Cup 2026

Exterior and Interior Design Built Around Tournament Branding

The Boeing 777 carries a custom exterior livery inspired by football’s global appeal and the scale of the 2026 competition, which is expected to be the largest edition of the FIFA World Cup to date.

According to the airline, the aircraft was designed to capture the “energy and global unity of football” while promoting the tournament across major international markets ahead of kickoff.

The jet will operate throughout Qatar Airways’ global network, effectively serving as a flying ambassador for the event. In addition to the exterior design, the aircraft also includes bespoke cabin dressing tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026 theme.

The custom inflight interior styling was created exclusively for the aircraft and is intended to immerse passengers in the atmosphere of the tournament during their journey.

Qatar Airways said the FIFA-themed exterior and interior branding will remain on the aircraft even after the tournament concludes, positioning the jet as a long-term tribute to the global sporting event.

Long-Haul Network Strategy Targets Key Football Markets

Aircraft Expected To Operate Across Europe, Asia, and North America

The airline selected its Boeing 777 fleet for the campaign due to the aircraft’s long-range capabilities and its ability to connect high-demand international destinations through Doha.

The branded aircraft is expected to operate on routes serving major football markets in Europe, Asia, and North America, giving travelers and football fans early exposure to the tournament branding in the lead-up to the competition.

The deployment aligns with Qatar Airways’ broader network strategy. The airline currently connects more than 160 destinations worldwide through Doha during the summer schedule.

As Official Airline Partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Qatar Airways is also expected to play a logistical role in supporting fan travel, team transportation, and tournament-related operations across the three host countries.

The partnership reflects the carrier’s wider investment in global sports sponsorships and international brand visibility.

    Qatar Airways Continues Awards Momentum

Airline and Doha Hub Receive Multiple Industry Honors

The FIFA aircraft unveiling comes as Qatar Airways continues to receive recognition within the aviation industry.

The airline was recently named the World’s Best Airline for the ninth time at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Qatar Airways also earned awards for World’s Best Business Class and World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge. In addition, the carrier has received the title of Best Airline in the Middle East 13 times.

Meanwhile, Hamad International Airport, the airline’s primary hub in Doha, was recognized as the Best Airport in the Middle East for the 11th consecutive year. The airport also secured the title of World’s Best Airport Shopping for the third straight year.

The Doha airport previously won the World’s Best Airport award in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Set To Be Largest Tournament in History

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will expand the tournament format and is expected to attract record global audiences and international travel demand.

The competition will be jointly hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, making it the first FIFA World Cup to be organized by three nations simultaneously.

For Qatar Airways, the new Boeing 777 livery represents both a marketing initiative and a continuation of its long-term association with one of the world’s most commercially significant sporting events.
