Captain Paul Haarhuis has announced the tennis team that will compete in the Davis Cup match with Switzerland. The Dutch team consists of Talon Grekboer, Boutique van de Zandschulp, Jess Brouwer, and doubles specialists Wesley Koolhoff and Jean-Julien Roger. KNLTB reported this. The 42-year-old Roger will be present at the Davis Cup Finals, just as he did in November, and will be favored over Matoi Middelkop.
Haarhuis is happy that he was able to make the desired choice. This is a home match to be played in Groningen. “It's great to play in Groningen again, last year we really enjoyed the orange atmosphere in Martiniplaza. Fan support is very important in this national competition,” says Haarhuis. He sees a “difficult” opponent in Switzerland, but believes in the advantage of playing over His land.
The Netherlands had a good year in the Davis Cup. She reached the finals in November, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Italy. That country eventually won the tournament.
The Davis Cup match with Switzerland will be held on February 2 and 3.
