Production of the new action movie Fast and Loose, starring Will Smith, has been brought to the fore by Netflix.
The Hollywood Reporter reported this on Saturday. The decision was allegedly made after the Oscars, where Smith took to the stage and punched comedian Chris Rock after he teased his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
It is said that the original reason was the departure of director David Leitch. He dropped the project a week before the Oscars because he was going to direct Universal Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling. Production for this movie will begin in August, the entertainment site reported.
But Smith’s incident during the Oscars would have caused Netflix to decide to put the search for a new director in the background. It remains unclear whether the streaming service will continue to produce the film, and if so, whether a new lead actor is being sought as well as a new director.
