Manchester United’s strength is a combination of youth and routine. This was said by coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Switzerland, on the eve of the Young Boys meeting in the Champions League. He believes he has enough quality to win the most important European championship in club football.
Last season, Manchester United did not survive the group stage. With players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, it should work now. “We want to win, even though we know very well it won’t be easy,” Solskjaer said. “We have acquired experienced players, and we also have very good guys. Together they should be able to achieve a lot.”
According to the Norwegian, Manchester United have been working towards this for several years. “The selection is getting stronger every season. I think we are now on where we planned to be. Now it has to translate into results. It seems clear to me that we want and can win trophies with this group.”
After four rounds of play, Manchester United share the lead in the Premier League with Chelsea and Liverpool. Former Ajax player Donny van de Beek is part of the selection.
