One person was seriously injured in a shark attack in the Australian state of South Australia on Thursday. I reported this to the police.
South Australian police were called to a shark attack at Ithyl Beach surf beach, near Adelaide, on Thursday at 1.30pm (4am Belgian time). Police said one person may have been seriously injured.
The Australian news agency AAP reported that ambulance crews were trying to reach the difficult-to-reach beach, which is located under a large cliff.
In recent months, two people have been killed in suspected shark attacks in the state. A 55-year-old man died in October after being attacked while surfing at Granites Beach. A 46-year-old surfer is also believed to have died in May in a shark attack near Elliston, about 60 miles south of Granites Beach. His body was never found.
