Ennio Morricone, Oscar-winning film composer dies at 91

Ennio Morricone, the Oscar-successful movie composer, has died at the age of 91, his lawyer told CNN Monday.

He died at dawn in a Rome medical center after slipping and breaking his leg, his attorney, Giorgio Assumma, said.

Morricone is ideal known internationally as the composer behind the quickly recognizable melodies from “The Excellent, the Lousy and the Unsightly” and “When Upon a Time in the West.”

The Italian composer was renowned for the pressure-stuffed scores of spaghetti Westerns, and won an Academy Award for his soundtrack for Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful 8” in 2016, soon after five previous nominations and an Honorary Award in 2007 that identified his lifetime’s achievement.

The Rome-born composer scored more than 500 films, and was a winner and nominee for a lot of BAFTA awards and Golden Globes, as nicely as being the recipient of a star on the Hollywood Wander of Fame.

Although arguably greatest identified for developing new music for Westerns, the composer also created soundtracks for cinematic classics like “The Mission” and “Cinema Paradiso.”

Morricone requested a non-public funeral, Assumma reported.

Italian Primary Minister Giuseppe Conte paid tribute to the composer on Monday, composing on Twitter: “We will usually bear in mind, with infinite gratitude, the artistic genius of the Maestro #EnnioMorricone.”

“It designed us aspiration, go, mirror, creating unforgettable notes that will keep on being unforgettable in the history of songs and cinema” he additional.

Italian President Sergio Mattarella supplied condolences to the spouse and children of the “distinguished” artist.

“Both a refined and preferred musician, he has still left a deep mark in the history of audio in the second portion of the 20th century,” he claimed. “By way of his soundtracks, he has significantly contributed in spreading and reinforcing Italy’s prestige close to the entire world.”
