After a long day on the slopes, there’s nothing better than a moment of rest in a quaint mountain hut. The pyramid-shaped Schneekarhütte offers great views of Mayrhofen and the surrounding mountains. Pair a glass of wine with a cheese board, or let yourself be tempted by the delicious organic Wiener Schnitzel. In the luxurious Albergo Restaurant, you can sample the best Italian cuisine with a view of the Zillertal Alps. Granalm is a famous Tyrolean-style mountain hut. Have a hearty breakfast here before heading out into the snow, or enjoy the panoramic view of the Granatbar with an exciting cocktail or glass of hot wine in front of you.
Do: Enjoy the Ice Palace
The areas around Zillertal consist of natural beauty, but in the Hintertuxer Glacier you will find a very magical sight: a real ice palace. Enjoy this 15-meter-high natural treasure on a guided tour. Walk through the clear blue entrance gate with a tour guide and you will be mesmerized by the frozen waterfalls, ice crystals and glacial lake you encounter here. Ice Palace is available for children from 6 years old. Climbing knowledge is not required.
