DUBAI — Emirates has unveiled a new generation of airport lounges as part of a major investment aimed at enhancing the premium travel experience for its customers worldwide.
The airline has opened redesigned lounges at Munich Airport and Frankfurt Airport, marking the launch of a new signature lounge concept that will serve as the blueprint for future Emirates lounges across its international network. The carrier plans to extend the concept to Manchester Airport, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius and Istanbul Airport in the coming months.
The initiative reflects Emirates’ continued focus on premium ground services, combining luxury interiors, technology, wellness features and upgraded dining experiences. According to the airline, each next-generation lounge represents an investment of more than AED 50 million.
Global Rollout Begins in Europe
The newly redesigned lounges in Munich and Frankfurt are already operational, while the Manchester facility is scheduled to open in July, followed by Mauritius in August and Istanbul in October.
As the rollout progresses, Emirates intends for the new concept to become the standard design model for lounges throughout its global network. The project extends the design philosophy introduced in the airline’s latest aircraft cabin interiors and brings it into the airport environment.
Drawing inspiration from Emirates’ flagship lounges at Dubai International Airport, the new facilities are designed to provide a seamless pre-flight experience that blends hospitality, luxury and innovation.
Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer at Emirates, said the investment reflects the airline’s commitment to delivering a seamless premium experience throughout every stage of the customer journey.
He added that the redesigned lounges combine refreshed luxury interiors with the elevated hospitality and innovation Emirates is known for, giving customers a comfortable space to relax, dine, work and prepare for their flights while strengthening the airline’s premium travel offering.
New Design Focuses on Comfort, Functionality and Local Identity
The lounge concept introduces more than 50 design enhancements intended to improve passenger comfort, operational functionality and visual appeal.
Contemporary architecture is paired with premium furnishings, herringbone flooring, marble and gold finishes, and integrated lighting systems. The spaces are divided into dedicated areas for relaxation, dining, work and social interaction, allowing travelers to customize their airport experience based on their needs.
A key visual feature is the illuminated Emirates Ghaf Tree motif, which pays tribute to the national tree of the United Arab Emirates and reinforces the airline’s connection to its home country.
Dedicated Workspaces for Modern Travelers
Recognizing the growing demand for productivity during travel, Emirates has expanded workspace offerings within its lounges.
Passengers can access private workstations as well as collaborative spaces designed for business meetings and individual work. Italian eco-leather seating, wireless charging capabilities and universal power outlets are available throughout the lounges.
The airline has also incorporated artwork from local artists alongside displays reflecting Emirati culture. Emirates’ signature Rolex clocks, showing multiple international time zones, remain a prominent feature for travelers managing global schedules and connections.
Dining and Beverage Programs Receive Significant Upgrades
Food and beverage offerings are a central component of the redesigned lounge experience.
Dining areas now feature live cooking stations where chefs prepare meals throughout the day. Menus include international dishes, regional specialties and dedicated “Made In” sections highlighting local cuisine at each destination.
Hot and cold buffet selections are refreshed regularly, while made-to-order dishes are prepared on demand. A dedicated bread oven produces fresh pizzas, traditional flatbreads and authentic manakeesh inspired by Dubai’s culinary heritage.
The beverage program has also been expanded. Guests can choose from Emirates’ selection of wines, champagne, beers and premium spirits. Dedicated barista stations offer specialty coffee and artisan tea, while in-house mixologists prepare locally inspired cocktails and mocktails.
Wellness and Relaxation Take Center Stage
A major focus of the new lounge concept is passenger wellbeing before travel.
Guests are welcomed with Emirates’ signature fragrance featuring bergamot, citrus, jasmine and soft wood notes. Fresh floral displays and local plant arrangements are intended to create a calm and relaxing environment.
The airline has upgraded shower suites with spa-inspired finishes and sustainable VOYA amenities, allowing travelers to refresh before long-haul flights.
Additional wellness-focused features include Quiet Zones equipped with plush seating, soft lighting and sleep amenities such as blankets, eye masks and earplugs. These areas are designed for passengers seeking rest during long layovers or before overnight departures.
The lounges also feature separate male and female prayer rooms with ablution facilities and integrated Qibla direction, as well as private meeting rooms and breastfeeding rooms.
Emirates said all of its lounges will continue to operate as silent environments, reinforcing a peaceful atmosphere for travelers seeking comfort, privacy and relaxation before boarding their flights.
