Emirates will deploy its flagship Airbus A380 to New Delhi for the first time beginning October 25, marking a significant expansion of its premium travel offerings in one of the airline’s most important international markets.
The Dubai-based carrier announced that the double-decker aircraft will operate on flights EK512 and EK513 between Dubai International Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The move makes Delhi the third Indian destination to receive Emirates’ A380 service after Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The aircraft will operate in a four-class configuration featuring First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy, aligning Delhi with Emirates’ latest onboard product strategy across its Indian network.
The launch is part of a broader effort by Emirates to expand access to its increasingly popular Premium Economy cabin throughout India. By the end of October, the airline plans to offer Premium Economy on nearly half of its weekly flights to and from the country.
Delhi Becomes Third Indian A380 Destination
The introduction of the A380 on the Delhi route will complement three other daily Emirates services currently operated by retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft. These aircraft also feature the airline’s four-class configuration, including the Premium Economy cabin.
With the addition of the A380, all daily Emirates flights between Delhi and Dubai will offer four cabin classes. Premium Economy will be available on flight EK513 operated by the A380, as well as on Boeing 777-operated services EK511, EK515 and EK517.
The airline said the upgraded cabin is designed to provide passengers with enhanced comfort through cream leather seating, increased legroom, deeper recline and upgraded dining experiences served on chinaware.
Growing Demand Drives Expansion
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the latest expansion reflects the carrier’s long-term investment in India and the growing demand for premium travel options.
“Delhi joins Mumbai and Bengaluru as the third A380 destination in the country, driven by strong demand for travel to and from India.”
He added that the airline’s Premium Economy product is being expanded rapidly across the market.
“Premium Economy will now serve six gateways, covering nearly half of the airline’s weekly Indian flights, with further service enhancements in the pipeline.”
Kolkata to Receive Airbus A350 Service
In addition to the Delhi upgrade, Emirates will introduce its next-generation Airbus A350 on the Kolkata–Dubai route from October 25.
The airline’s daily EK570 and EK571 services will transition from Boeing 777 aircraft to the A350, bringing Premium Economy and other upgraded cabin features to travelers flying from Kolkata.
A second Kolkata service, EK572 and EK573, will continue operating five times per week using a retrofitted four-class Boeing 777. Together, the two routes will ensure Premium Economy availability on all 12 weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai.
The A350 deployment forms part of Emirates’ broader fleet modernization program, which includes upgraded interiors across its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleets.
Six Indian Gateways to Feature Premium Economy
By the end of October, Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin will be available from six Indian cities.
The product will be offered on four daily services from Delhi, 12 weekly flights from Kolkata, 22 weekly services from Mumbai, nine weekly flights from Ahmedabad, seven weekly services from Bengaluru and two weekly flights from Kochi.
The cabin will be available across a mix of Airbus A380, Airbus A350 and retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft, giving travelers more options for upgraded seating and onboard amenities.
Investment Extends Beyond Aircraft Upgrades
Emirates is also expanding its customer service infrastructure in India.
The airline recently opened retail travel stores in Delhi and Mumbai, providing travelers with personalized booking assistance and travel support. Additional stores are planned for Hyderabad and Bengaluru, while a dedicated call center will be established in Mumbai.
Onboard, passengers can access regionally inspired meal options prepared by award-winning chefs. Emirates said cabin crew serving Indian routes speak multiple languages, including Hindi and several regional languages.
Travelers also have access to Emirates’ inflight entertainment platform, which features more than 6,500 channels, including Bollywood content and programming in Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Kannada and other languages.
Emirates Maintains Extensive Presence in India
India remains one of Emirates’ largest international markets. The airline currently serves nine destinations across the country: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
Across those cities, Emirates operates 167 weekly flights to Dubai, providing onward connections to nearly 140 destinations worldwide through its global network.
The introduction of the A380 in Delhi and expanded Premium Economy availability underscores Emirates’ continued focus on strengthening its position in the Indian market while meeting growing demand for premium travel experiences.
