Blending two pop culture icons, Elton John teamed up with Mattel to launch his own Barbie doll.
“Barbie is an icon in her own right, so honoring her for my work and my personal style is a real honor,” Rocketman said on social media. “I hope you inspire fans everywhere to seek without fear to realize their dreams and their limitless potential.”
The new doll, announced on Thursday, does not take the form of the legendary singer. Instead, Elton John Barbie is a classic Barbie doll with a musician style.
“The Elton John Barbie doll sparkles in a glittery top and jeans adorned with the glittering Elton initials. According to Mattel’s statement, her bomber jacket is decorated with“ Elton ”patterns, its sleeves are star-printed and the hem is striped in rainbow colors.” Nods to the artist’s creative style include shoes with the sole Rainbow stripes, a purple bowler hat, and pink glitter sunglasses. “
The commemorative doll release comes before the 45th anniversary of John’s historic concert at Dodgers Stadium in 1975, which broke the then world record for the largest solo concert.
The Dodgers’ bright costume that the musician wore to the concert is immortalized in the 2019 biopic Rocketman. Although the new Barbie does not wear it, the outfit is painted on the doll’s box.

The limited edition doll comes with a holder and Certificate of Authenticity and retails for $ 50.
