Strong fires combined with strong winds are making California’s wildfires difficult to control. Earlier in the day, 180,000 people were forced to leave, and now luxury neighborhoods like Pacific Palisades and Brentwood are being added.
Pacific Palisades in particular is a well-known neighborhood, because celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Chris Pratt, and Judd Apatow live or have lived there.

Tourist attractions like Mulholland Drive and Sunset Boulevard are also in the area where people are being forcibly evacuated.

The fire broke out in Los Angeles overnight Sunday into Monday and spread quickly due to drought and strong winds. Thousands of people were suddenly forced to flee in the middle of the night. In total, residents of about 10,000 properties will have to leave their homes.
Mayor Eric Garcetti urged residents to “leave when we ask you to leave.” He added that some people only had 15 minutes to escape from the flames. He especially cautions homeowners against trying to protect their property with garden hoses.
