In the final group match of the Rotterdam Water Polo Cup, the Dutch women's water polo team beat Australia 11-10. The Australians had won all their water polo cup matches so far, so it was expected to be an exciting match. The two teams were evenly matched throughout the match. Fortunately for the Dutch, the Netherlands eventually came out on top, which means they can play the final against Spain tomorrow.

The match was a constant alternation of Dutch leads, draws and Australia advances. There were many chances, especially in the first half, but the score remained 1-1.

Australia were in good form, especially in the second half, which caused the Netherlands to fall behind for a while (4-5). Fortunately, Sabrina van der Sloot scored the equaliser early in the third period, giving the Netherlands control of the match again. Especially thanks to a great combination of Sliking and Youstra, the Netherlands were able to finish the third period with a 9-8 lead.

In the final period, goalkeeper Laura Aarts was replaced by Sarah Boyce, who made a number of great saves. With Boyce on goal, the Netherlands no longer relinquished the lead and managed to win the match 11-10.

Tomorrow the women's water polo team will face Spain in the final. A great opportunity to avenge last Tuesday's loss.
