The UFC added a fight between Jose Aldo and Merab Dvalishvili to the event. Former featherweight champion and legend Jose Aldo will try to continue his path in the featherweight category. However, he will have to deal with the powerful Georgian Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili has won his last seven matches and can force an opponent to beat Aldo.

Kamaru Usman is the king of the pound for pound and the welterweight champion in the UFC. Osman made his debut in 2015 during the 21st season of The Ultimate Fighter. Usman won that season, giving his team The Blackzilians a victory over the American Top Team. In his second match with the UFC, he fought against Nigerian Leon Edwards. Usman won the match with his dominant wrestler. However, Osman’s style was seen as boring by many people, which meant that true opponents of size were not given to Nigerians.

In the end, the UFC could no longer ignore him. After victories over Demian Maya and former champion Rafael dos Anjos, Usman secured his title against champion Tyrone Woodley. Usman completely dominated Woodley and won the title by unanimous decision. Only then will Usman improve and successfully defend his title five times. Colby Covington (2x), Jorge Masvidal (2x) and Gilbert Burns could not stop the Nigerian. Now Leon Edwards gets a chance to defeat Usman who doesn’t even come close. It will be a great challenge to break through the winning streak of 19 (!!) matches.

Edwards is actually a man of unspeakable middle weight. However, Edwards has been able to make strides in his career in recent years. The Englishman signed with the UFC in 2014 and immediately lost to Claudio Silva. After that, the former BAMMA Champion won twice, but failed to face the man who would now fight again. From that moment on, a switch was turned on with the Englishman. Edwards piled on the gains. Vicente Luke, Donald Cerrone, Brian Barberina, and Gunnar Nelson, among others, were defeated.

Edwards then fought again in the United States in July 2019 for the first time in four years. Edwards defeated former champion Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision. Ultimately, in 2021, a no-contest contest was played against Bilal Mohamed, who was unable to continue due to an eye injury. However, in his last match, Edwards won after five rounds against Nate Diaz. Then UFC President Dana White Edwards promised to fight Kamaru Usman. However, Usman was injured and Edwards would have to wait until August.
