aVery few people are well prepared for AI as the most important fundamental technology of our time. 37% of Germans have already tried ChatGPT, but mostly only for private purposes. Even more frightening is the realization that 63% of people in Germany have never used or known about the world’s most popular AI tool, according to a current representative study by TÜV. Meanwhile, many people believe that AI will be very important for their jobs:
- Half of German employees expect AI to play a major role in their jobs within five years.
- About a third fear that they will fall behind in their careers at the latest, and that artificial intelligence will replace them, and
- In fact, nearly two-thirds of respondents consider additional training in AI helpful.
This desire contrasts sharply with reality, as only 8% of employees in Germany have so far completed AI training for their jobs, a Randstad analysis shows. Germany therefore falls in the lower middle line in international comparison.
There are now a lot of good AI courses, often offered for free – some from universities or research institutes, and often also from companies interested in rapid progress in AI (which of course also promote their own services in the courses which is why the courses don’t have to be bad ).
We have selected interesting courses and present them in this article:
1. Introduction to artificial intelligence
The “Introduction to AI” learning offering as part of the Applied AI initiative aims to familiarize a broad target group with the basic technical aspects and functionality of AI. Using videos, texts and practical exercises, a general understanding of AI is created through which participants learn to evaluate and apply AI sensibly in their private and professional lives. The Artificial Intelligence Campus also offers other courses.
Provider: KI Campus
2. Elements of artificial intelligence
“Elements of Artificial Intelligence” is a series of free online courses developed by the University of Helsinki. The goal is to bring the topic of artificial intelligence closer to as many people as possible: What is artificial intelligence? What can AI do (and what it can’t do)? How are artificial intelligence methods developed? Courses combine the transfer of theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, and participants can set their own pace of learning.
