In September 2022, elevator company Doppelmayr announced a new elevator system: TRI-Line. Many advantages have been combined and, if we are to believe expectations, it will be revolutionary. In the Hoch Ybrig ski area, construction of the mountain station of a new ski lift with this system has now begun. How does this work? You can read about it in this build update.

Lifting system: TRI-Line from Doppelmayr

The developments of TRI-Line stem from the two Doppelmayr lifting systems, D-Line and 3S, which have been used in recent years. The advantages carried over to the new cable car system include high reliability and comfort when leaving the lift station. In addition, new developments are being added, for example there is space for a maximum of 20 people per gondola and the transportation capacity will increase to 8,000 people per hour. Doppelmayr also states that the compact design will have a smaller environmental footprint, that less maintenance is needed and that the elevator is relatively cheaper to purchase.

New lift at Hoch Ybrig

Doppelmayr's first TRI-Line system will be built at Hoch Ybrig, Switzerland. The 55-year-old Weglosen-Seebli Luftseilbahn has been completed and a new model is being built. This development has begun in recent weeks! The ski area is sharing the first photos of construction on social media.

Construction update

Work is currently underway on the supporting structure for the mountain station. Then it was the turn of the drive. An international team of installers from Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, Inaunen-Schättti AG and Garaventa AG come together to do the job. Construction work is going according to plan and according to the latest media reports, the elevator will be ready for use in 2025.
