Australia narrowly avoided losing a result on Wednesday and sought revenge after a 5-1 defeat in the Professional Hockey League.
After 5 penalty kicks, Blake Govers was able to open the scoring for Australia, and Tom Boone did not need more than 1 to equalize.
However, the Belgians went to rest helplessly. Jake Whetton and Nathan Ephraums went 1-3 at halftime.
The Belgians did not need much time after the break to put things in order. Nicolas de Kerbel scored the equalizer after a smart cross, and Alexander Hendriks equalized from a corner kick: 3-3.
Florent van Opel also managed to erase the fourth Australian goal. A penalty shootout was to decide the winner. Australia wasted 3 chances, achieving their fourth consecutive victory for the Belgians in the Professional Hockey League.
Next month, the Red Lions travel to Utrecht for their final four Pro League matches, twice against Great Britain (FIH 5) and twice against the Netherlands (FIH 1).
