The Cabinet has drawn up a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 120 million euros. More than a third of this amount is for ninety T-72 tanks. They buy Holland in the Czech Republic and go directly to Ukraine. The first tanks should arrive next month.

Minister Kajsa Olungren (Ministry of Defense) wrote this in a press release on Friday. And so the Secretary keeps her promise: just a month ago I wrote that the government would increase military support to Ukraine in the short term.

NATO member states are collecting more weapons for the government in Kyiv on the “cowardly Russian air strikes on Ukrainian civilians”. As their stockpile dwindles due to constant arms deliveries, countries are also looking elsewhere for military equipment.

The Netherlands funds the purchase of tanks with the United States and the Czech Republic itself. “This comprehensive package is an important signal for Russia. The allies continue to join forces to support the Ukrainian armed forces in the fight against Russian aggression,” Olungrin said.

The last time the Netherlands sent weapons to Ukraine was in October. At that time, it belonged to anti-aircraft missiles worth 15 million euros. They must protect Ukrainian citizens by intercepting Russian cruise missiles and other projectiles launched by Russia. In total, the Netherlands sent more than 350 million euros of military goods to Ukraine.
