Today, Saturday, he began vaccinating against the Corona virus. In Germany, Spain, Poland, Greece and Italy, citizens and care workers have been injected. It will not follow the Netherlands until January 8th.

The European Union is following in the footsteps of many countries around the world that have already started injecting their population earlier. The Netherlands is about to end the row in Europe. Reason: Not all GGD’s software systems are ready, as the House of Representatives recently heard an emergency debate of Public Health Minister Hugo de Jong. GGD only recently appeared in the picture as a trigger for the first vaccinations, when the grafting strategy was modified. In other countries this has been arranged more smoothly.

    China first

Although not a single vaccine has yet received the official green light from the Chinese authorities, China was the first country to launch a vaccination campaign early this summer. The virus also appeared in China at the end of last year. The first vaccinations were reserved for those most at risk (workers and students traveling abroad, health care providers). It is said that more than a million Chinese have been injected with various vaccines.

Russia followed suit on December 5 and began inoculating workers at risk with Sputnik V, developed by the Russian National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Aesthetic.

    the West

The United Kingdom was the first Western country to approve a vaccine developed by the US-German alliance Pfizer-BioNTech. The vaccination campaign began in the UK on December 8, and according to official figures, more than 600,000 people have already received their first two doses of the vaccine.

In the West, it was followed by Canada and the United States on December 14, Switzerland on December 23, and Serbia on December 24, all equipped with a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. More than a million Americans have been vaccinated to date, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The United States and Canada are also the first two countries to approve the American Moderna vaccine.

    Official figures

In the Middle East, the UAE was the first to launch its Sinopharm vaccination campaign in China in the capital Abu Dhabi on December 14th. Also in the UAE, Dubai started getting doses of Pfizer-BioNTech on December 23. It was followed by Saudi Arabia and Bahrain on December 17, Israel on December 19, Qatar on December 23, and Kuwait on December 24. Oman will start the vaccination campaign today. All of these countries initially chose Pfizer-BioNTech. Bahrain also injected doses of Sinopharm. Israel has injected about 210,000 doses, and Bahrain has injected more than 50,000, according to official figures.

In Latin America, Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica, their campaign began on December 24 with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. Jordan, Singapore and Argentina have also approved the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, but the start date of their campaign is not yet known. Argentina also has the Russian Sputnik V.
