The Jumbo boycott has partly ended: the deal with major manufacturers has been closed

The Jumbo boycott has partly ended: the deal with major manufacturers has been closed

Jeffrey Clark, April 22, 2024

After months of negotiations, supermarket chain Veghel Jumbo has reached an agreement with several major manufacturers. As a result, products such as Milka coffee, Oreo and Douwe Egberts are slowly returning to stores after the boycott. Jumbo informed Distrifood about this.

“Jumbo recently reached agreement in negotiations with a number of key suppliers of A-brands such as Mondelez, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, Dr. Oetker and Danone,” a spokeswoman for the group told Distrifood.

In February, Mondelez shelves were empty, the trade site wrote. Milka chocolate bars, Oreo cookies and Tuc pastries will soon be no longer available. This was followed by conflicts with, among others, Bondel, Jacobs de Egberts, D. Oetker, Danone, Alpro, and Unilever.

Haribo candy bags and Pringles chips have not been available in Jumbo stores for some time. By the end of February, the list of banned substances had increased to nearly fifty products from ten suppliers.
