The James Webb Telescope discovers thousands of new stars in the Tarantula Nebula  Sciences

The James Webb Telescope has photographed thousands of previously undiscovered stars. The celestial body was seen in the Tarantula Nebula, which is about 170,000 light-years from Earth.

The Tarantula Nebula gets its name from the dust clouds that make up the nebula. They are like the pieces of a spider’s web that the tarantula spins for itself in which to live. The stars are in the constellation of the Golden Fish, which can only be seen on Earth from the Southern Hemisphere.

Scientists see that more stars are born in the galaxy than in the Milky Way. The Tarantula Nebula contains the largest and brightest collection of stars outside the Milky Way that we can see from Earth. Within this group of stars are the largest and hottest stars known to date.

Using the powerful James Webb telescope, scientists can now also see the nebula and take much clearer pictures. This led to the emergence of thousands of new young stars. Thus, scientists can better study how stars form and evolve.

The James Webb Telescope is the largest and most powerful telescope ever built. Scientists can use it to see ever farther into space. The telescope has previously taken the sharpest infrared image of the universe ever. The project is a collaboration between NASA and its European counterpart, ESA, among others.
