Former USA international Sidney Leroux made a mockery of Lynneth Berenstain on Friday. The Orange player had spoken out sharply about the elimination of the defending champions, the United States. After losing the quarterfinals to Spain, she got a taste of her own medicine.

“First thing I thought when I heard they were out? Yeah, bye!” Berensten said Thursday at the press conference ahead of the quarter-final against Spain. The striker’s remarks went in the wrong direction with the 33-year-old Leroux.

Just minutes after the Orange were eliminated in the World Cup finals, the 77-time US international shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, a mockery of the Orange striker. “One thing we’ve learned is to wait to speak until you’ve stepped onto the podium with a gold medal. Because now you… bye too,” wrote Leroux, who won a world title with the United States in 2015.

American soccer players, who were strong 2-0 over the Orange team in the World Cup final four years ago, have performed poorly in this World Cup. In the group stage, the Orange team left a difficult point in the first match against the United States (1-1), after which the team of coach Vlatko Andonovsky finished second. In the eighth finals, the defending champions were surprisingly eliminated by Sweden after a penalty shootout.
