This year’s US Grand Prix is the setting for the 17th round of the season. Max Verstappen rides up to Austin by six points, but in the past Lewis Hamilton has dominated the race in the Texas capital more often.

Formula 1 has been visiting the US since the 1950s, but the racing location has changed regularly over time. Only since 2012 has the Circuit of the Americas raced, where the next edition will also be held. The rink opened in 2012 and is located outside of Austin, the capital of the US state of Texas. It was designed by German Hermann Tilke, known from many other circles.

    Circuit of the Americas

Tilke’s design vision was to iterate and integrate as many known turns from different circuits as possible on this track. For example, we see exact copies of a file Pickets chapel worms gathering from Silverstone and Sina S from Interlagos. The Circuit of the Americas is 5.5 kilometers long and has twenty courses. Under good conditions, the Grand Prix will be held over 56 laps.

    Verstappen vs. Hamilton

Hamilton hasn’t won a win on American soil in three years, but he has a great connection to the country. Four consecutive victories between 2014 and 2017 show that America’s circuit is ‘Hamilton Territory’. In addition, main competitor Red Bull Racing has not won a single race there. On the other hand, Verstappen has – with one DNF exception – always been in the top four in Austin, including his time with Toro Rosso. It promises to be another exciting fight.
