Assistant Main Constable with Police Scotland Steve Johnson claimed the male suspect was shot by armed police and a police officer was injured though working with the incident.
“We are continuing to offer with the incident on West George Avenue #Glasgow and would question individuals to stay away from the space,” Johnson said.
“However, I would like to reassure the general public that this is a contained incident and that the wider public is not at risk. Armed police officers attended the incident and I can ensure that a male suspect was shot by an armed officer.
“I would like to reassure the public that at this time we are not looking for any person else in relation to this incident. I can also verify that a police officer was hurt when dealing with the incident and that officer is receiving treatment in healthcare facility,” Johnson explained.
The police federation mentioned “the relatives of the officer has been notified and is staying supported by the provider.”
