An auction in London raised 4 million euros for the Roger Federer Foundation. The funds received are intended for educational projects in Africa and Switzerland. The auction sold, among other things, the jerseys, rackets and shoes of the Swiss tennis legend.

The target amount was 1 million euros, so they exceeded that by a lot during the vault. “The amount achieved is incredible, and it makes me very happy because the money is going to the Roger Federer Foundation,” said Federer, who was recently eliminated in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

The auction consists of two parts: live sale on June 23 and online from June 23 to July 14. Someone put about £162,500 for 3 rackets that Federer used at Wimbledon in 2019. “We started collecting things that I took in matches because we thought that one day we could do something useful with them.” Mirka (wife, editor). I am honored that the decision we made will make a huge difference to so many children.”

The 39-year-old Federer, who will turn 40 on August 8, had hoped to compete in the Olympics in a few weeks. Unfortunately for him, due to trouble in his knee, he has to fail (again).
