England beat Switzerland on penalties on Saturday. Pickford's water bottle was instructed to dive to the left during Manuel Akanji's penalty, according to a photo that quickly went viral on social media. Thanks to the correct instructions, the England goalkeeper eventually converted the Swiss's penalty, and then The Three Lions Won the series 5-3.

Switzerland took the lead in the second half through striker Breel Embolo. England had to work hard and forced extra time through a beautiful goal by Bukayo Saka: 1-1.

No goals were scored in extra time, and the match went to penalties in the quarter-finals of the European Championship. England managed to score five goals in a row from eleven metres, but Switzerland missed one.

It was Swiss star player Akanji who missed the first penalty. The Manchester City defender fired a weak shot towards the bottom right corner from the penalty taker's point of view. Pickford had been instructed on his bottle to jump to the left from his own point of view and was able to stop the penalty easily.

England have reached the semi-finals of the European Championship after beating Switzerland on penalties in Dusseldorf. The winner of the Netherlands v Turkey match will face them in the semi-finals. More: https://t.co/GSdgQfwobO pic.twitter.com/3y5RncLMug
