The Amsterdam women have to lay off Robert Tiggs just before the start of the season. The trainer summoned the patients to the Amsterdam board of directors.
Tigges has started pre-season, but did not go on practice to Hamburg last week. It is also missing from ABN AMRO Weekend. Lauren Stam has been brought up by Amsterdam as an alternative.
The former international and former Amsterdam player, who retired last year after an injury-ridden season, forms a tandem with Kim Lammers, who was Tiggs’ assistant. “Lauren was already part of the top hockey committee,” says Amsterdam president, Mark Stahl. “Because of her experience as a player as well, she knows the group very well and this is the best solution now.”
The start of the big league
“Robert is unable to lead the team at the moment,” Stahl continues. “This is of course very annoying, especially before the start of the season. We expect Kim and Lauren to be sitting on the couch together next weekend, when the Eredivisie big league begins. It is still unclear exactly how long this situation will last.
Title candidate Amsterdam will finish the season in Kleine Zwizerland next Saturday. The team reached the semi-finals last season under the leadership of Teges, who has led Wagner Club since 2019.
