Nairo Quintana can no longer start today in the third stage of the Tour of Switzerland. The experienced Colombian from Movistar suffers greatly from his crash in the second stage.

Quintana was involved in the incident that occurred in the run-up to Regensburg. He underwent tests in the hospital in the evening, which revealed that he had suffered a misaligned fracture of the fourth metatarsal bone in his right hand. That's why Quintana can no longer start the third stage.

The Colombian wanted to build on his excellent form from the Giro d'Italia at the Tour of Switzerland. There he made an impressive attack, especially on the trip to Livigno. However, rose wearer Tadej Pogacar took it to the extreme.

Quintana's second big goal should be the Vuelta a EspaΓ±a this season. It is not yet known to what extent this injury will hinder his preparations.
