A US Marine has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for selling military secrets to China. Wenying Zhao, a naturalized US citizen born in China, allegedly admitted to accepting bribes from a Chinese intelligence officer in exchange for sensitive US military information. American media write this.

The 26-year-old non-commissioned officer from California was sentenced to 37 months in prison after pleading guilty in October to conspiring with a Chinese intelligence officer and receiving bribes. Between August 2021 and May 2023, he received $15,000 in bribes from the intelligence officer.

Zhao admitted to secretly sending information about military training and critical infrastructure to China. Specifically, he is said to have conveyed information about a large-scale naval exercise in the Pacific region, among other things.
