Appingedam – On Sunday 29 September at 2:30 pm, Maarten van Rossem, a prominent Dutch historian, will give a lecture at the Nicolaikerk in Appingedam. This lecture is part of the “Stories of Nikolai” series which aims to attract a wide audience to the historic church.

After successful lectures by Robin Terlo and Marianne Timmer, it was now van Rossem's turn. With his extensive factual knowledge and frank opinions, he is looking forward to the upcoming US presidential elections. The battle between current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will be closely watched around the world. Van Rossem will present his point of view on these crucial elections, which are of great importance for international politics.

Van Rossem recently stated in his magazine “Martin” that a possible return of Trump in 2024 would make the United States an unreliable strategic partner for the European Union. He stressed that this forces Europe to become more independent compared to the United States. He described Trump as a “lying variety artist,” highlighting his sharp criticism of the former president.

The lecture is expected to be attended by a large audience, as happened in previous events. Tickets for Maarten van Rossem's lecture are available online at uitjesineemsdelta.nl/ticket/maarten-van-rossem and at Damster Boekhandel and Primera.

Visitors can look forward to a fascinating afternoon filled with sharp analysis and thought-provoking insights into the future of American policy and the potential consequences for Europe.
