    The World Lifesaving Championships will be held on the Gold Coast, Australia, from August 23 to September 9. Sisters Danique and Dionne Klomp, who live in Niederwerth, will be competing in the biennial World Cup.

    After a period full of selection competitions, both in pool and in the oceans, the two Dutch girls have been included in the Dutch Lifesaving Team 2024. Both ladies have been involved in the international circuit for years and have been key players in the Dutch selection. Since 2018. The delegation to the World Cup is selected from this selection. Last year they participated in various selection competitions at home and abroad. With the results they achieved in these competitions, they secured their place in the team.

    The team consists of 6 women and 6 men, and consists of swimmers from the brigades of Echt, Weert, Hethuysen, Dordrecht and Gouda. This group will compete against the rest of the world in the city of lifesaving sports, Australia. The goal is to improve on the previous World Cup result.

    The sisters will compete in various events in both the pool and the ocean. Danique's goal is to achieve the highest possible rating in the Super Lifeguard and Lifeguard categories. Her sister Dion will try to improve on her personal bests in the 50 Mannequin and 100 Medley Rescue. In the Ocean, the two ladies will compete in a surfing and board rescue race.

    Preparations are currently underway. The ladies will leave Down Under in good spirits in mid-August.
