Jay Vine will also join Alpecin-Fenix for the next two years

    Friday, August 27, 2021 at 3:26 p.m.

Alpecin-Fenix has extended Jay Vine’s contract for another two years. The 25-year-old Australian, who was offered a professional adventure with the Belgian team through the winning Zwift academy, is on reform until the end of 2023.

In his first race in the pro peloton, Vine immediately took a place on the podium. The climber finished second on the Tour of Turkey at the beginning of this year. Fine, who only raced a few races in Australia last year on behalf of the Continental Nero, is currently active in the Vuelta a España. His best result so far: 11th on the stage to Balcón de Alicante.

“I’m in a trance,” Vine replies. “I wanted to do my best this year to do my best for the team. My ultimate goal was to get a contract extension at Alpecin-Fenix. It’s a whole new ground for me, this race as a pro. I sold everything we had in Australia this spring, with a goal Turning that into a long-term career as a professional. So I am very grateful and relieved to be able to drive for another two years for Alpecin-Fenix.”

“The team has always given me new opportunities and helped me develop. Zwift Acadeny has made my biggest dream come true. I ride for a team I never thought I would ride for,” he says. “And I do what I love, which is cycling. I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass me by. This year is a big learning process for me and I can’t wait to see where the team and I are in a few years.”
