Do I earn enough? And what do my colleagues actually earn? No doubt these questions have crossed your mind at some point. We now have the answer to some comparison material. This is how high disposable income per age is in the Netherlands.
This week, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) released its annual report Observe broad prosperity Outside. The report focuses, among other things, on the assets and income of the Dutch, but also compares this data with the rest of the European Union. As we mentioned, the report was published this week, but this does not mean that the amounts also apply to this year. The report analyzes based on 2022 data.
Income in the Netherlands
The average disposable income is €35,400 per household. However, the average does not say everything: due to upward outliers, the average disposable income is higher than the average. The average disposable income is €31,600. The median indicates the amount that half of the households have less than the amount they should spend.
Disposable income by age
The level of disposable income for each family depends in part on the age of the main breadwinner. The Broad Prosperity Observatory shows that families with a relatively young main breadwinner generally have lower disposable income than other families. In particular, the disposable income of families whose main breadwinner is under 25 years of age is well below average.
An overview of disposable income by age can be found in the table below.
age | Disposable income (average) |
---|---|
Under 25 years old | 13,900 euros |
