If you have this pressure cooker, stop using it now because it has been burning people – BGR

    • Famous clay pots are withdrawn because they can cause serious injuries.
    • Crock-Pots, which were sold at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and other stores, can cause burns if the cap fails to keep itself.
    • The company sends out new replacement lids and asks anyone who has the product to stop using the pressure cooker function in the meantime.

As you prepare for your Thanksgiving dinner, you may be tempted to come up with one of the most used kitchen gadgets. I’m talking of course crock pot. Unfortunately, summoning the Sunbeam Crock-Pots at horrific timing could throw a key into your meal prep plans.

The recall, which was announced in a flyer by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, affects Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers. The reason for a product recall is due to a possible defect in the cap that could eventually lead to burns or other serious injuries to anyone standing near you. Nearly 1 million Crock-Pot units were included in this recall, and dozens of people have already been infected as a result of a product defect.

Unlike many recalls where a product bug is discovered before any issues are reported by the public, these Crock-Pot models are blamed for 99 reports of “burn injuries ranging in severity from first degree burns to third degree burns.” “. This is extremely dangerous, and there were clearly 119 reports of “cap detachment”, meaning that in 20 cases there was no one around and injuries were avoided.

Here’s the rundown from the official summon handout:

Consumers should immediately stop using the crock pot that has been called into the pressure cooker setting, but they can continue to use it for slow cooking and frying. Consumers should contact the Crock-Pot immediately to obtain a free replacement cap. Consumers who continue to use the pressure cooker in the pressure cooker position while waiting for the replacement lid must be certain that the lid is tightly rotated to the fully closed position by aligning the arrow on the lid with the lock symbol on the base.

The cookers were sold at Walmart and Target stores, among other retail locations (including Amazon) and a total of 9,14,430 units were sold in the United States, with another 28,330 shipped to Canada. This is a very large recall, so if you have one of these Crock-Pots, be sure to check if it matches the recall description:

This recall includes the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multicooker, Model number SCCPPC600-V1, which appears on the label at the bottom of the unit. The multiple cookers were manufactured between July 1, 2017 and October 1, 2018, with date codes K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN. The date symbol is engraved on one of the prongs of the electrical plug and at the bottom of the base.

If you have one of these units, stop using them as described above, and contact the company via the website or phone number on the prospectus page.
