GEORGIA — Gulfstream Aerospace has introduced its newest business jet, the Gulfstream G300, a super-midsize aircraft designed to replace the company’s G280 and redefine standards in its category. The announcement came at Gulfstream’s “Discover the Difference” event, where executives showcased the aircraft’s advanced technology, extended range, and cabin designed to be the longest in its class.

Gulfstream President Mark Burns highlighted that the new jet is both an evolution and a leap forward. “The G300 builds on the foundation laid by the G280, while introducing major advances in cockpit systems, cabin comfort, and safety,” Burns said.

    A Cabin Designed for Comfort

The G300 is configured to carry up to ten passengers across a two-zone cabin. Gulfstream underscored that the aircraft offers “the longest cabin in its class,” outfitted with signature oval windows and engineered for a whisper-quiet environment.

In addition to spacious seating, passengers will benefit from 100 percent fresh air circulation enhanced with plasma ionization for improved air quality. At 41,000 feet, the cabin maintains a low altitude of 4,800 feet, reducing passenger fatigue during long missions.

“The focus is on comfort and health as much as technology,” Gulfstream executives noted during the unveiling.

    Performance and Range

The G300’s performance figures put it squarely in the top tier of super-midsize jets. The aircraft offers a range of 3,600 nautical miles at Mach 0.80 and 3,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.84, giving it the ability to complete nonstop flights between high-demand intercity routes. With a maximum cruising altitude of 45,000 feet, the jet promises speed and efficiency for operators who need range flexibility.

Power comes from two Honeywell engines paired with a swept wing designed for aerodynamic efficiency and performance. Gulfstream said these design choices ensure a balance of fuel economy and high cruise speeds.

    Advanced Flight Deck

The cockpit introduces the Harmony Flight Deck, featuring six large touchscreen displays and an adaptive Phase-of-Flight system. This intelligent setup adjusts information displayed to pilots depending on the mission stage.

Additional safety and situational awareness tools include the Synthetic Vision Primary Flight Display, which provides 3D runway and terrain visualization, and the Predictive Landing Performance System, which calculates stopping distances in real time.

“These technologies not only make flying more intuitive but also enhance safety margins in challenging conditions,” Burns said.

    Development and Certification

Gulfstream has invested heavily in testing and validation ahead of the aircraft’s first flights. The company has already logged nearly 22,000 hours of lab testing and simulated flights in its Integration Test Facility, along with close to 2,000 hours of ground testing on the first production airframe.

Two additional test aircraft are currently under construction and will join the certification program. Gulfstream confirmed that the G280, introduced in 2012, will be phased out as the G300 becomes the company’s new entry in the super-midsize category.

    Market Competition

The G300 enters a competitive landscape alongside the Bombardier Challenger 3500, Cessna Citation Longitude, and Embraer Praetor 600. These aircraft typically seat eight to twelve passengers and achieve ranges around 3,000 to 3,500 nautical miles.

By touting the G300’s longer cabin, advanced avionics, and enhanced comfort, Gulfstream is positioning the aircraft as a premium alternative in the crowded segment. Industry analysts say that as operators weigh upgrades, Gulfstream’s emphasis on passenger experience and cockpit innovation could give the G300 an advantage.

    Expanding the Gulfstream Lineup

With the launch of the G300, Gulfstream adds to a family of new-generation business jets that includes the G400, G500, G600, G700, and G800. The company aims to offer a comprehensive product range for customers who prioritize technology and luxury across different mission profiles.

“By combining cutting-edge avionics, enhanced cabin comfort, and competitive range capabilities, the G300 is positioned as a premium successor to the G280 and a strong challenger to its rivals,” Gulfstream stated.

    Bottom Line

The G300 represents Gulfstream’s continued push to expand its footprint across all business aviation segments. With its blend of performance, technology, and comfort, the new jet underscores the company’s strategy of staying ahead in a market where passenger expectations are rising as quickly as fuel efficiency demands.

As the aircraft moves through certification and closer to entry into service, industry attention will be on how it performs in real-world operations—and how effectively Gulfstream can capture share from entrenched rivals in the super-midsize sector.
