Greek border guards found 92 naked migrants on the bank of the Evros River on Friday. Evros is the river between Greece and Turkey. The Greek newspaper wrote, that according to the Greek authorities, the Turkish border guards had left the group there Kathimerini.

According to the newspaper, the migrants were going to tell the border police that Turkish agents had taken them to Evros. After that they could have been taken to the Greek side by boat. There they were left without clothes and other things.

Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarakis posted on Twitter a picture of naked men emerging from bushes. He called it “a disgrace to civilization.”

Greece regularly accuses Turkey of forcing migrants to cross the border. Turkey accuses Greece of “returning” the migrants to Turkey. These so-called reactions, which also occur at sea, are prohibited by European law. This means that people do not have the opportunity to apply for asylum.

The land border between Greece and Turkey is about 220 kilometers long and runs almost entirely along the Evros River. On the Greek side there is a border fence of 40 kilometers in length. The government in Athens plans to extend the fence along the entire border.
