The Frank Goes for Gold series is an eight-part reality series in which Dutch actor Frank Lammers searches for gold in the Australian outback.
In the series, the Lammers follow the gold seekers of the Australian Gold Hunters, a group of professional gold hunters who have been active in the outback for years. Lammers learns from them all about gold prospecting and works himself.
Frank Lammers travels to the Australian state of South Western Australia for his adventure. Since the first gold nugget was found, gold fever broke out in this area. The search for the precious metal is carried out in various ways using modern machines and primitive techniques. But nickel, cobalt and lithium are also present in remote areas. These metals are often called “the new gold” because of their great importance in current technological developments. Frank visits the largest mines in the world, but also begins panning for gold himself.
During his journey across Australia, Frank Lammers meets many distinguished gold seekers. He spends time with them to learn about their work. For example, he meets Dutch Andy, who runs a farm in the outback with her Australian husband, Ben. Frank goes on an adventure with the couple to the nickel mine on their land. The mine is almost as large above ground as it is below. Experts also call nickel “the new gold.”
Frank also meets Australian Goolie, who shows him how gold mining was done in the past. He also visited Gavin in the village where the largest gold nugget in the world was found. Will Frank soon find the world's most valuable precious metals?
