The Netherlands did not have a positive week in the transactions battle. Feyenoord convincingly beat Lazio 3-1 and PSV Eindhoven earned a point at home to Lens (1-1), but AZ Alkmaar (1-4) and Ajax (2-0) lost in Europe. After a strong week, the French are closing in on the Netherlands’ fifth place in the world rankings.

After the summer, the Netherlands were still above France with 2,769 points, but French League clubs still active in Europe narrowed the gap to 0.769 points after three rounds.

    French clubs have done well

The match began in the last round at Paris Saint-Germain, which beat Milan 3-0 in the Champions League. Lens tied with PSV Eindhoven in the same tournament. In the Europa League, Thigues Dalinga’s Toulouse lost 5-1 to Liverpool, where Ryan Gravenberch was also accurate. Marseille scored a goal in the same competition by defeating AEK Athens (3-1).

In the Conference League, French teams Lille and Stade Rennes were unbeatable. Lille was very strong against Bratislava 2-1 and Rennes Stadium won 1-2 over Panathinaikos.

    classification

If the Netherlands can maintain fifth place, they can count on no less than three permanent tickets to the Champions League in the 2025/2026 season. The fourth-place finisher in the Eredivisie could then compete in the preliminary rounds for a place in the group stage of the billion-dollar ball.

If the Netherlands drop to sixth place, they will be entitled to two permanent Champions League tickets and one qualification ticket.
