DUBAI — Emirates Airline is preparing for a significant workforce expansion as it moves forward with one of the largest fleet growth plans in global aviation, opening more than 120 roles across flight operations, cabin crew, engineering, and corporate functions. The hiring push reflects the Dubai-based carrier’s long-term strategy to support hundreds of new aircraft deliveries expected over the next decade.

As the world’s largest international airline, Emirates currently employs approximately 124,000 people. That number is set to rise substantially as the airline scales operations to meet growing global travel demand and maintains its position as a major connector between international markets.

Fleet Expansion Anchors Long-Term Hiring Strategy

Emirates’ leadership has made clear that aircraft growth and recruitment will move in parallel. Chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated that additional aircraft entering the fleet will directly translate into new jobs across multiple operational areas.

Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer Adel Al Redha has outlined a pilot recruitment plan extending eight to ten years, signaling that the airline is focused on sustained, long-term hiring rather than short-term staffing cycles. The company has set a long-term target of recruiting 5,000 pilots as part of this expansion.

At present, Emirates lists more than 120 open positions across departments, with flight crew roles among the most competitive and highly sought after, according to Khaleej Times.

Direct Entry Captain Roles Offer Premium Compensation

Among the most lucrative opportunities are Direct Entry Captain roles for experienced Airbus pilots operating the A350 and A380 fleets. These positions require extensive multi-crew, multi-engine experience, including recent command time on Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft.

Captains can earn a tax-free annual compensation package of up to Dh1.18 million. The package includes base salary, flying pay, company-provided accommodation, education allowances for up to three children, 42 days of annual leave, confirmed business class tickets for annual leave travel, comprehensive insurance coverage, and eligibility for profit sharing.

Eligibility requirements vary slightly between the A350 and A380 fleets but include a valid ICAO ATPL, Class 1 Medical certification, and ICAO English Level 5 or higher. Applications are submitted online with mandatory documentation, including a passport, CV, and medical certificate.

Cabin Crew Recruitment Remains Central to Brand

Cabin crew hiring continues to play a key role in supporting Emirates’ global service model. The airline prioritizes customer service skills, adaptability, and safety leadership, with full safety and service training conducted at Emirates’ Dubai facilities.

Cabin crew members earn an average total monthly compensation of Dh11,244, which combines basic salary, flying pay, and overseas meal allowances. Additional benefits include company-provided accommodation, medical coverage, and concessional travel privileges.

Applicants must meet eligibility criteria such as minimum height requirements, fluency in English, a high school qualification, and compliance with UAE employment visa rules. Visible tattoos are not permitted while in uniform.

Accelerated Command Program Speeds Career Progression

For experienced First Officers, Emirates offers an Accelerated Command programme designed to shorten the path to Captain roles. Candidates must meet specific flight hour thresholds and complete defined training and evaluation modules.

Participants can earn a total tax-free annual package of up to Dh970,000, with benefits aligned closely to those offered to Captains. These include housing, education allowances, travel benefits, insurance, and profit-sharing eligibility.

Applicants must hold a valid ICAO ATPL with Class 1 Medical certification and meet defined experience requirements on Airbus or Boeing fly-by-wire aircraft.

First Officer and Engineering Pathways Remain Open

Emirates is also actively recruiting First Officers for its Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and A350 fleets. Minimum experience requirements begin at 2,000 total flight hours, with enhanced compensation available for pilots exceeding 4,000 hours. Annual tax-free earnings can reach Dh900,000, along with housing, education benefits, medical insurance, and pension contributions.

For UAE nationals, the airline continues to offer a fully sponsored Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License scholarship through the Emirates Engineering Training College. The five-year program provides structured training and hands-on aircraft experience, with monthly salaries increasing to nearly Dh24,000 upon completion.

    Broad-Based Hiring Across Emirates Group

Beyond flight and engineering roles, Emirates continues to recruit across corporate, operational, and customer-facing functions. Full vacancy listings and application details are available through the airline’s official careers portal.

As Emirates accelerates fleet expansion, the airline’s hiring strategy underscores Dubai’s growing role as a global aviation and employment hub.
