MONTREAL — Bombardier has set a new milestone in private aviation, officially confirming that its Global 8000 business jet has reached a top speed of Mach 0.95, making it the fastest business aircraft in operation. The achievement, announced during the 2025 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, positions the Global 8000 as the new standard for speed, range, and comfort in the ultra-long-range jet category.
The new performance record cements Bombardier’s leadership in aerospace engineering. The Global 8000 surpasses previous benchmarks, offering exceptional velocity without compromising on luxury or efficiency. “This accomplishment reflects the dedication of the company’s engineering and production teams,” said Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier.
A New Era for Business Aviation
The Global 8000’s speed record underscores Bombardier’s commitment to technological excellence. Previously recognized as the fastest business jet in the world, the aircraft now sets a new bar with its Mach 0.95 capability, equivalent to 1,161 kilometers per hour. Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Development, called the achievement “a redefining moment for the industry,” noting that the aircraft’s performance represents a significant leap forward for long-distance private air travel.
Beyond raw speed, the Global 8000’s design integrates advancements that enhance both operational flexibility and passenger experience. Its new wing configuration, featuring leading-edge slats, allows the aircraft to take off and land on shorter runways—expanding accessibility to nearly 30 percent more airports compared to other jets in its class. Despite its considerable size and range, Bombardier reports that the jet delivers an exceptionally stable and quiet ride across varying flight conditions.
Connecting the World’s Major Business Hubs
The Global 8000’s ultra-long-range performance enables nonstop travel between key intercontinental city pairs, including Los Angeles to Singapore and New York to Dubai. For global executives and VIP travelers, that capability eliminates the need for refueling stops, saving time and enhancing convenience.
Bombardier designed the aircraft for efficiency and versatility, appealing to both corporate and private clients who demand the highest levels of speed, comfort, and reliability. Its combination of range and performance ensures the Global 8000 stands as both a technological and commercial milestone for the Canadian manufacturer.
Inside the Global 8000: Redefining Comfort and Productivity
The Global 8000’s interior was built with the traveler in mind. The cabin includes four distinct living areas, a full-size galley, and a dedicated crew rest space, providing what Bombardier calls the “longest seated length” in its category. The aircraft also features the industry’s lowest cabin altitude—an innovation designed to reduce fatigue during transcontinental flights.
Noise suppression and air filtration systems further enhance onboard comfort. Bombardier’s engineers optimized the jet’s environment for quietness and air quality, creating what the company describes as one of the most peaceful and healthiest cabins in private aviation. Advanced entertainment and connectivity systems allow passengers to stay productive or relax seamlessly, transforming long-haul travel into an extension of the office or home.
Bombardier’s Expanding Global Footprint
Bombardier continues to solidify its position as a key player in global aerospace. The company’s fleet includes more than 5,100 aircraft operating worldwide, supported by 10 service facilities across six countries. Manufacturing operations span Canada, the United States, and Mexico—regions where the Global 8000 is assembled with precision craftsmanship.
In 2024, Bombardier received the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award for excellence in brand and design, reinforcing its reputation for innovation and quality in the aviation industry.
Comlux Named Launch Customer
Bombardier also announced that Comlux, a leading private aviation group, will become the launch customer for the Global 8000. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2026 and will join Comlux’s existing fleet, which includes the Global 6000 and Global 6500. The new jet will operate primarily from Comlux’s facilities in Zurich and Indianapolis.
According to Comlux Aviation CEO Andrea Zanetto, the Global 8000 “aligns perfectly with the company’s focus on performance and luxury.” Zanetto added that the delivery “represents a new chapter in Comlux’s global charter evolution,” enabling the management of both Global 7500 and Global 8000 aircraft for elite clientele worldwide.
Martel praised the partnership, emphasizing that the Global 8000’s unmatched speed, range, and cabin refinement make it an ideal addition to Comlux’s fleet. The collaboration, he said, reinforces Bombardier’s relationship with one of its most distinguished customers.
The Road Ahead
Headquartered in Zurich, Comlux has been a fixture in business aviation for more than two decades, offering aircraft management, charter, and completions services across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. The addition of the Global 8000 strengthens its ability to meet growing demand for premium long-range travel.
As Bombardier prepares for the Global 8000’s official entry into service, the aircraft stands as a defining symbol of progress in private aviation—combining the thrill of speed with the sophistication and comfort demanded by the world’s most discerning travelers.
