Biden and Netanyahu phone conversation reassures Morocco

While the Algerian lobbyists are campaigning to reverse the recognition of the Moroccan Sahara in exchange for the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel by the United States, it appears that the new American president is not ready to change the policy of his predecessor in this area.

Biden reiterated “the United States’ support for the recent normalization of relations between Israel and the countries of the Arab and Islamic world,” stressing “the importance of working for peace in the region, including between Israelis and Palestinians.” This came in a press release issued by the White House.

At the end of January, the new US Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Anthony Blinken had already responded to the normalization of relations between Israel and the four Arab states during a conversation with his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi. Then he welcomed the Abrahamic Agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. “It is in the US interest to continue this process, including during the Biden era,” he said at the time.
