Benjamin de Rothschild, scion of the famous banking family, died of a heart attack at the age of 57.
This is confirmed by Edmund de Rothschild, the large Swiss wealth bank named after his father who owns it. Benjamin de Rothschild died yesterday at his home in Priene, Switzerland.
He had been president of the umbrella group his father had established since 1997. His wife Ariane was also closely involved in the development of the bank, which manages CHF173 billion in investments for the wealthy. The couple took full control of the financial giant a few years ago. The bank is also active in Belgium.

Benjamin de Rothschild was a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for finance, speed, sailing, cars and wine. He was also an active philanthropist, ”the financial group says goodbye to its owner. He was mentioned last week as a candidate buyer for an expensive sketches by Hergé.
