A letter of 1,000 euros can bring you: 6 million Germans are affected
Thousands of lawsuits are being filed against German law firms. If you have legal protection insurance, you can hire a lawyer right away without taking any risks.
However, legal experts at Stiftung Warentest recommend the following: First, claim damages from Facebook’s parent company Meta. The letter template helps with proper drafting. Also, experts recommend attaching some spam or virus emails and screenshots of unwanted text messages you’ve recently received as evidence.

In the first step you can mail the claim ([email protected]), but then Meta may not acknowledge receipt of it. Stiftung Warentest recommends waiting three days for feedback, after which all that remains is the hard copy and the good old registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, which you have to send to the Meta European headquarters in Ireland.

The cost of this varies by weight. In addition to the international postage fee for letters (from € 1.10), there is € 3.50 for international registered mail and € 2.20 for a return receipt. By standard letter, everything costs 6.80 €.

If dead still manages to wriggle, then 6.80 euros is gone. But you don’t have to take action right away. According to Stiftung Warentest, the claim for damages is time-barred By the end of 2024 at the earliest.

But if you invest a few euros in registered mail, you can run a judging panel for free after an unsuccessful order. This, in turn, stops the statute of limitations. Either way, you can control the financial risk.
