The Duke of Sussex paid £ 2.4 million to renovate a Frogmore Country House near Windsor Castle.

The cost was covered by the taxpayers through the Sovereign Grant, but the Duke and Duchess said they would repay it when they step back from their royal duties.

A spokesman for Prince Harry said he paid the bill in full by contributing to the grant.

The property will continue to be the residence of the Duke and his family in the United Kingdom.

  • There is no other choice but to hold back, says Harry

This comes days after the couple announced that they had reached an agreement with Netflix to make a bunch of shows, some of which might appear.

The multi-year deal will include documentaries, documentary series, feature films, text shows, and children’s programs.

“This contribution, as originally made by Prince Harry, fully covered the costs of the necessary refurbishment of Frogmore Country House, which is a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will remain the residence of the Duke and his family in the United Kingdom,” a Duke’s spokesperson said of the payment.

Frogmore Cottage is located on a secluded property on the Queen’s Windsor estate in Berkshire

Royal accounts last year showed the cost of the renovations was £ 2.4m and was covered by the grant.

These are the money that the government gives to the Queen and pays the salaries of the royal family, official travel and maintenance of palaces.

Harry and Meghan agreed to repay the money as part of the plans when they quit their jobs in the royal family in March.
