Netflix Apologizes For “Inappropriate” ‘Cuties’ Poster – Deadline

Netflix has issued a swift mea culpa after a strong backlash today all around the advertising and marketing of its forthcoming launch Cuties.

The largely properly-obtained French-language pic gained the Planet Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance this year. It follows Amy, an 11-yr-old girl who joins a group of dancers named ‘the cuties’ at school, and fast grows mindful of her burgeoning femininity – upsetting her mother and her values. Netflix recently commenced advertising and marketing the movie ahead of its release on the system on September 9. Netflix has moved speedily to take down the offending artwork and has already replaced it it wouldn’t confirm if the poster was produced in-residence or by an company. The streamer also apologized, issuing the next statement to Deadline:

“We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we utilized for Cuties. It was not Okay, nor was it representative of this French movie which premiered at Sundance. We have now up to date the photographs and description.”
