Carrier Adds 21 Weekly Flights to Strengthen Canada-U.S. Connectivity
BOSTON — Porter Airlines is expanding its cross-border operations with the launch of new nonstop flights connecting Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) with Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL).
The expansion adds 21 weekly flights to Boston and further strengthens the airline’s presence in the Northeastern United States as competition for business and leisure travelers between Canada and the U.S. continues to grow.
Under the new schedule, Porter will operate 14 weekly roundtrip flights between Toronto Pearson and Boston using the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. In addition, the airline will introduce daily nonstop service between Montreal and Boston aboard the De Havilland Dash 8-400.
The newly announced routes build on Porter’s existing Boston services from Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Ottawa International Airport (YOW). With the additions, the carrier will now offer a total of eight daily flights serving the Boston market.
Boston Remains a Strategic Market for Porter
The airline said the route expansion is intended to improve travel flexibility while enhancing access to one of the United States’ leading business and tourism destinations.
Boston continues to attract strong demand from both corporate and leisure travelers due to its concentration of universities, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and technology companies. The city’s role as a major innovation and research hub has also increased the importance of reliable air service between Canada and New England.
The Toronto Pearson route is particularly significant because it marks the first time Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will operate at Boston Logan International Airport.
Passengers traveling aboard the aircraft will have access to complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a service Porter has introduced across its E195-E2 fleet as part of its premium economy-focused strategy.
Executive Comments on Expansion
Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting at Porter, said Boston has remained an important destination for the airline since service first launched in 2009.
He added that the new Toronto Pearson and Montreal routes represent another step in expanding Porter’s U.S. footprint and strengthening its cross-border network.
Massport Executive Director of Aviation Ed Freni said the additional flights improve direct connectivity between Boston and two major Canadian aviation hubs.
According to Freni, the expansion also provides travelers with increased scheduling flexibility and broader connection opportunities throughout North America.
Expanded Access Across Canada and Europe
The new services are also expected to improve onward connectivity for passengers traveling through Toronto Pearson and Montreal-Trudeau.
Travelers departing from Boston will gain easier access to Porter’s growing domestic network, including western and Atlantic Canadian destinations such as Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver.
The airline said passengers will also benefit from expanded international travel opportunities through Porter’s joint venture partnership with Air Transat (TS).
That partnership provides access to several transatlantic destinations, including Amsterdam, Paris, and Barcelona, allowing Boston travelers to connect more efficiently through Canadian gateways.
Montreal Airport Sees Growth Opportunity
ADM Aéroports de Montréal Vice President Karl Brochu said the addition of Boston service strengthens Montreal-Trudeau’s transborder route network.
He added that broader international connectivity supports both regional economic development and long-term growth within the aviation sector.
Porter Continues Premium Economy Strategy
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Toronto, Porter Airlines has rapidly expanded its network in recent years across North America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.
The carrier continues to differentiate itself through a premium economy approach that focuses on passenger comfort and onboard service.
Porter’s aircraft feature an all-economy seating configuration without middle seats, while passengers also receive complimentary beer and wine served in glassware along with premium snacks.
The airline currently operates a growing fleet composed of Embraer E195-E2 jets and De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft as it continues expanding its reach across international and domestic markets.
The latest Boston expansion reflects Porter’s broader strategy of increasing connectivity between Canada and key U.S. business centers while enhancing travel options for both corporate and leisure passengers.
