Researchers have solved the secret of how a 242-million-calendar year-old reptile with a neck a few situations the size of its torso moved all-around, getting that it lived in the ocean.

Olivier Rieppel, a paleontologist at the Field Museum in Chicago and a single of the authors on the analyze, reported: “That neck will not make feeling in a terrestrial setting. It really is just an awkward construction to carry close to.”

The scan showed that the 20-foot reptile experienced nostrils on the major of its snout and curved, interlocked tooth – both equally indications of an animal that would have hunted in the water.
