Sidney Sweeney convincingly plays an American whistleblower interrogated by the FBI in an oppressive drama.

She wanted to make a career and have adventures. She joined the United States Air Force. I learned Pashto, Dari and Persian. But deployment to Afghanistan did not materialize. Eventually, Reality Lee Winner ended up at a military site near Augusta in the US state of Georgia in February 2017. There she was hired by an NSA subcontractor to translate documents related to the Iranian space program.

In the opening scene of reality Filmmaker and theater artist Tina Satter shows the workplace that awaits Weiner: a dim office space with televisions mounted on the wall tuned to Fox all day.

Photos show James Comey, the FBI director who has had a falling out with President Donald Trump, being mocked. Thus Sater points out that Weiner's colleagues are being indoctrinated into far-right disinformation every day. Political ideology has seeped deeply into the minds of the people charged with protecting America. All of this serves as an important introduction to the rest of the film.

After a day at work, Weiner suddenly encounters two strange men in her driveway on June 3, 2017. They want to strike up a conversation with her. They have a search warrant. It turns out that Weiner “wrongly handled” classified information.

In short, Weiner leaked. Also important information: about how the Russians interfered in the 2016 US presidential elections. The document that reached the press was discussed in the US Senate a few days after its publication. But the United States is by no means a whistleblower's paradise, that much is clear. Weiner murmured that she was “actually not trying to be a Snowden type.” However, there is something painful about the way her sense of justice is crushed by the men, who turn out to be FBI agents. Sater portrays the officers as sympathetic to the Republican cause.

reality It is based word for word on transcribed audio recordings made during Weiner's arrest. Sater saw Weiner's embarrassing detention as just a scenario. Actor Sidney Sweeney brilliantly portrays the main character. Sweeney, who he is often portrayed on social media as she's a girl From now on, allow entry reality See that the focus should not be exclusively on her looks but on her acting qualities. She adopted Weiner's tone and facial expressions, later explaining that she had been traumatized on the day in question. Sweeney's character seems indifferent. The oppressive reality of punishment for exposing the fragility of American democracy is what becomes clear at the end of the film in Weiner's forlorn gaze symbolizing the demise of the American dream.
