Verstappen and Perez see exhaust systems replaced in Australia

Verstappen and Perez see exhaust systems replaced in Australia

Brian Rodriguez, March 22, 2024

The weekend in Melbourne, culminating in the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, began with new parts for the Red Bull/Honda-powered cars. The cars' exhaust systems were replaced before the weekend began.

This means that Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Visa Cash App RB's Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo will drive this weekend in a new segment without receiving a grid penalty. Logan Sargeant testified that Williams replaced its power shop and control electronics without receiving a grid penalty. For all drivers, this will be the first time in 2024 that they will see this engine part replaced.

Gasly and Albon with a new gearbox

There have been four drivers so far in 2024, including Verstappen and Perez, who have already used a new gearbox. More drivers have been added in Melbourne. The gearbox has been completely replaced for Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly. It is the second gearbox of five this season. So there is no grid penalty for drivers.
