Turkish Airlines has operated its first flight to Australia. Türkiye is now directly connected to six continents.
The first flight was ceremoniously welcomed at Melbourne Airport on Friday. Not only in the terminal, but also around the airport, Turks living there were honking horns and waving flags as they waited for the approach of the very large Boeing 777, which had completed a long flight from Istanbul via Singapore. The plane was flown, among others, by two Turkish pilots born in Australia.
The new destination is served by the latest Turkish Airlines aircraft. This is done in the winter using a B787-9 Dreamliner and in the summer using an Airbus A350.
The Turkish flag bearer also becomes the main sponsor of Melbourne Football Club Victory until 2027, in both the men's and women's divisions. All shirts are supplied with logo text.
Turks travel to most destinations in the world: 346 cities in 130 countries. In addition, Turkish Airlines is often voted the best airline in Europe.
