The new rules should ensure more sustainability when it comes to packaging materials. According to the European Union, each European now produces approximately 190 kilograms of waste through packaging every year. This must be reduced. Partly for this reason, deposits and recyclable packaging are encouraged.

    Less packaging is the goal

To formally ratify the agreement, member states and Parliament will have to agree again.

The Convention prohibits certain types of packaging such as the above. Target is also included. Packaging materials in circulation must be 5 percent less by 2030, 10 percent in 2035, and 15 percent in 2035.

PFAS were once a breakthrough, but not anymore

Furthermore, food packaging materials should no longer contain PFAS. The material is not biodegradable and is harmful to health. You will learn more about it in the video below:

Restaurants are also called. They are encouraged to provide tap water in reusable bottles or containers where possible.

Finally, online stores will also have to pay attention, because all packaging will be recyclable in the future.
